About this trip
Chokramudi is the ridge that stands over the tea country east of Munnar. This is a short, early trek on its slopes — up in the first light, back in town by a quarter to ten, with the rest of your day still ahead of you.
This is a joiner trip: you book one seat, not a vehicle. There is no minimum group size to meet and no one to co-ordinate with — pick a date, pay for your seats, be at the boarding point in Munnar town by 06:00.
On the flowers: Neelakurinji does not bloom on a schedule you can put in a brochure. Ask us what is actually in flower on your date and we will tell you what our guides saw on the slope that week.
The day, hour by hour
- 1
06:00 AM
Pick up from Munnar town
Meet the vehicle at the boarding point in Munnar town. It is usually 12–15°C at this hour, so carry a warm layer — you will want it on the slope well before you want it in the vehicle.
- 2
07:00 AM
Chokramudi kurinji trek
About two hours on the Chokramudi slopes. Open grassland and shola edge, with the tea estates falling away below you and, in a flowering season, kurinji on the slopes.
- 3
09:00 AM
Return to Munnar
Back down to the vehicle and on to Munnar town.
- 4
09:45 AM
Drop at Munnar town
Back at the same boarding point, with the day still ahead of you.

Frequently asked questions
About three and three-quarter hours door to door. Pick up at 06:00 in Munnar town, trekking from 07:00 to 09:00, and back at the same point by about 09:45. It is a morning trip, not a full day.
Strobilanthes kunthiana flowers once every twelve years, then seeds and dies. The mass blooming around Munnar and Eravikulam National Park was widely documented in 2006 and again in 2018, which puts the next flowering of that population in 2030. Other kurinji patches across the Western Ghats sit on their own twelve-year clocks and flower in different years, so smaller displays do turn up in between. Within a season, flowering usually runs from about August into October.
Ask us with your date and we will tell you what our guides saw on the slope that week, including "not much" if that is the truth. It changes week to week and we will not answer it in a brochure.
Yes. That is the point of a joiner trip. You buy a seat and we fill the vehicle with other travellers on the same date.
Fitter than for a sightseeing drive. This is a real if short trek — roughly two hours of walking on open slope with a gradient, starting cold and early. If you walk regularly and can manage a sustained uphill for half an hour, you will be fine.
Yes, and a good share of our seats are booked that way. You will be in a shared vehicle on a published route, and back in Munnar town mid-morning.
A child who walks confidently on uneven ground will manage it. It is a short trek but it is a trek, and the start is early and cold. Children pay the child rate; message us before booking if yours is young and we will tell you honestly whether the date suits.
Foreign nationals pay ₹1,050 a seat against ₹850 for Indian nationals. Select "Foreigner" on the booking calendar and the rate updates — there is nothing extra collected on the day.
Rain in Munnar is usually a passing hour rather than a washout, and a wet slope is still walkable. If conditions make the route genuinely unsafe, we will tell you before you set out.
06:00 IST at the boarding point in Munnar town. It is a short trip on a fixed window, so the vehicle cannot wait long.
No. The trip is back in Munnar town by about 09:45, so you eat afterwards, in town, on your own.
One shared vehicle per departure.
Yes, on the terms in the cancellation policy below.
Cancellation & refunds
