About five hours door to door. Pick up at 06:00 in Munnar town, trekking from 07:00 to 09:30, a stop at Lockhart View Point on the way back, and back at the same point by about 11:00. It is a morning trip, not a full day.
Strobilanthes kunthiana flowers once every twelve years, then seeds and dies — but not every slope is on the same clock, which is why 2026 is a flowering year here. The Chokramudi and Mattupetty–Kannimala plants flowered in 1990, 2002 and 2014, and they are flowering again now, in 2026. The Eravikulam National Park population is the famous one and a separate clock entirely: it bloomed in 2006 and 2018, and is next due in 2030. Within a season, flowering runs from about August into October.

Fitter than for a sightseeing drive. This is a real if short trek — roughly two hours of walking on open slope with a gradient, starting cold and early. If you walk regularly and can manage a sustained uphill for half an hour, you will be fine.
